LSAW (LongitUDyield Arc Welding) is a professional term for Longitudinally Submerged Arc Welding steel pipe. It is a kind of tube made by pressing (rolling) steel plate into billets in a mold or molding machine and extending the diameter through double-sided Submerged Arc Welding.

LSAW steel pipe  has a wide range of finished specifications, good weld toughness, plasticity, uniformity, and density, and has the advantages of large diameter, thick wall, high-pressure resistance, low-temperature resistance, and corrosion resistance. In the construction of high-strength and high-quality long-distance oil and gas pipelines, the required steel pipes are mostly large-diameter thick wall straight seam submerged arc welded pipes. According to API standards, straight seam submerged arc welded pipe is the only specified applicable pipe type in large oil and gas transmission pipelines when passing through class 1 and class 2 areas such as alpine zone, seabed, and urban densely populated areas.

Different molding methods can be divided into:

UOE steel pipe: After the sheet steel plate is pre-bent at the edge, it goes through U forming, O forming, internal welding, external welding, mechanical cold expansion, and other processes.

JCOE steel pipe: namely according to "J-C-O-E" pre-welding, forming, welding after cold diameter expansion and other processes

HME steel pipe: formed by mandrel rolling method according to "C-C-O", welded after cold diameter expansion and other processes.

Main features of LSAW steel tube:

1) The steel pipe has a longitudinal weld, and the inner and outer welds are welded by submerged arc welding.

2) After the overall mechanical diameter expansion treatment, the inner stress of the steel pipe is small and evenly distributed, which can effectively prevent stress corrosion cracking, has high dimensional accuracy, and is convenient for on-site welding construction.

3) Using the process of pre-welding after finishing welding, the welding process is stable and the weld quality is high.

4) The weld is easy to realize the non-destructive testing in the production process and the field non-destructive testing review in the use process.

5) Large range of product specifications, can produce small diameter, large wall thickness can also produce large diameter, large wall thickness steel pipe.
